New larger iMac could exist on the way with M1X chip

The new Apple Silicon-powered iMac is big, merely information technology'southward certainly not big enough for nigh. But don't go thinking that Apple will succeed the 24-inch iMac (24-inch, 2021) with a 27-inch model to match the current Intel-powered iMac.

Gurman, who put the thoughts in his Power On newsletter for Bloomberg, writes (via MacRumors) "I absolutely still believe that a larger, redesigned ‌iMac‌ to supervene upon the Intel 27-inch models is en road. Apple tree increasing the screen size of the smaller model from 21.5 inches to 24 inches seems to indicate that the 27-inch model could see a size increment also."

His logic here is strong. That said, this is still only informed reasoning. If Gurman had insiders informing him of such an upcoming XL iMac, he'd likely reference something nigh "sources familiar with the project," which he did non. That said, he may have more insider information on the topic than he'southward letting on, simply just deciding he wants to frame the possibility in a dissimilar way.

Gurman does seem confident that Apple will be releasing this larger iMac, as he'south already thinking about the internals: "I don't call back, notwithstanding, that Apple will launch the larger model with the same M1 fleck that's in the smaller model.
